Mugali is a small hidden cove between Apsarakonda and Manki, tucked below a forested hill. There is no road to the sand. You walk up through scrub and trees to a hilltop viewpoint and look down on a secret curve of beach and black rocks, with the open Arabian Sea beyond.
Most people come for the sunset from the top. The more adventurous take the footpath down to the cove. It is a secluded route, so go in daylight, go in a group and ask locals in Manki for the way before you set out. They are generally happy to help.
There are no facilities of any kind: no shops, toilets or lifeguards.
Tips
- Start back before dark and carry a torch.
- Do not swim: the cove has rocks and strong currents.
- The path is slippery after rain. Avoid it in the monsoon.
