What to do

Swim at the lifeguarded Kasarkod Eco Beach between the flags. Take a sunrise boat ride before the heat builds. Spend a night at Gundabala watching Yakshagana, which runs every night until the monsoon.

It is mango and cashew season too. Cool off with a gudbud at Karavali Ice Cream or a fruit ice cream at Kanni Ice Creams.

Tips for the heat

Carry water, a hat and sunscreen. Choose a stay with air conditioning. Visit temples and forts in the early morning. School holidays in April and May bring more families, so book stays ahead.
