About 13 km from Honavar, the forests around Karikanamma Hilltop are part of the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world's biodiversity hotspots.
The classic trek runs from the Sri Karikanamma temple to the Ondadike Sri Shambhulingeshwara temple deep in the forest, through tropical moist broadleaf forest alive with birds and butterflies. The trail is safe, but hiring a local guide is highly recommended.

Do not carry plastic or litter. Wear proper shoes, carry water and a first-aid kit and finish well before dark.
