Guide
Honavar with kids
Honavar is calm, green and easy to get around, which makes it a good place for a family holiday.

Beaches and water
Kasarkod Eco Beach has lifeguards, changing rooms and clear swim flags, so it is the safest beach for children. Swim only between the flags and never in the monsoon.
Children love the Apsarakonda waterfall, where a small stream falls into a pool they can splash in, especially after the rains.
Easy adventures
The mangrove boardwalk is flat, shaded and full of crabs and birds. A backwater boat ride of an hour or two is just right for small children: ask for life jackets.
Cross the swaying footbridge to Pavinakurve, or watch a train cross the long Konkan Railway bridge.
Food and treats
Fruit ice cream set in the fruit's own shell at Kanni Ice Creams, or a tall gudbud at Karavali Ice Cream, makes any day. Buns and goli baje are good snacks for small hands.
Where to stay
Many homestays have family rooms, gardens and home-cooked food. Our homestays list also has whole holiday homes and villas if you want a kitchen and space to spread out.
