1929 Diner near Honavar serves pure-vegetarian local cuisine in a heritage home built in 1929, by pre-booking only.

1929 Diner

Want to taste real Honavar home cooking? The 1929 Diner serves it in a heritage house built in 1929, with mud walls, carved wood and traditional Uttara Kannada architecture, inside Areca County on the outskirts of town.

The menu is set and usually an unlimited vegetarian buffet of local dishes, including tambuli, the cooling buttermilk-and-greens dish of the region. It's one of the few places in Honavar for proper filter coffee. Walk-ins aren't served: call at least a day ahead to say how many people are coming.
