Sri Kshetra Bangaramakki sits on the right bank of the Sharavathi River near Gerusoppa, the old capital of Rani Chennabhairadevi, about 32 km from Honavar on the Honavar–Bengaluru road. Thousands of devotees come here through the year.
The presiding deity is Sri Veeranjaneya (Hanuman), standing with hands joined in namaskara and his mace held upside down at his feet. He faces north, which the temple explains as Hanuman returning from Lanka after finding Sita.
The temple has a large campus with parking, a dining hall serving meals to devotees and rooms for pilgrims. It is an easy stop on the drive to Jog Falls, along with the Chaturmukha Basadi and the Gerusoppa Dam.
Tips
- Book pujas and rooms on the temple website.
